You can track the progress of a quoted or ordered tool by accessing your Tool Library. Navigate from your Dashboard: Dashboard > Account > Tool Library.
The Tool Library lists all quoted and ordered tools. In this view, you'll see the tool name, status, the number of parts made, the creation, and the file owner's information. You can also search for a tool or edit its name.
If you click on an individual tool, it will navigate you to the Tool Details page. You can see a summary of these features here. This page provides essential information about your tool and its current status.

What processes will require a tool?
Tooling is required for injection molding, die casting, metal extrusion, plastic extrusion, and stamping. Once purchased, the same tool can be reused on part reordering, reducing production costs.
How do I reorder parts from a tool?
Option 1: Using the Copy Order function from Your Orders page is the quickest way to start a reorder of parts. Make sure to delete the tooling line item and then submit the quote for review.
Option 2: Add the part from your Parts Library or Recent Uploads to start a new quote. The part may not automatically associate with the tool, so it's recommended that the tool name be added to the notes, and staff will ensure the part is quoted correctly. Submit your request, and an Xometry team member will quickly respond.
Does my Tool Detail page change on every reorder?
No. After a tooled project is completed, the tool details page will remain the same for any parts associated with that tool. Subsequent quotes and orders of those parts will be visible from the Tool Details page.
Can I change my part design, color, or material after creating a tool?
Xometry will not start building the tool until all parties sign off on the design during the DFM stage after the initial order of a new tool. This is to prevent any unexpected expenses after tool creation. Design, color, or material changes after tool creation may incur an additional expense or even a new tool if required. Speak with an Xometry representative for assistance on any post-order modifications.
Will I see my Tool Library page even if I do not have a tool?
Yes. It can be found under the Account drop-down on your Dashboard.
Can I search for a specific part from my Tool Library?
No, you can use your Parts Library to find a specific part.
How often are my Tool Details updated?
Xometry staff will update the major milestones depending on the tool's progress.
What if I have a question about the status of my tooled project?
A primary point of contact will be available on your Tool Details page. You can reach out to them with any questions. If you do not see a primary point of contact, please get in touch with your Xometry sales representative or our support team.
Will I be notified when my tool has reached its end of life?
During the quoting phase, a tool life is requested to help align the budget and fabrication of the final tool. Tool life is based on created parts and tracked via the Tool Library page. If a tool is nearing its end of life, an Xometry representative may reach out to understand your future needs and develop a strategy that best suits your project.
Who owns the tool when it is made by Xometry?
The customer purchasing the tool is the tool's owner (or die or insert). Xometry and its suppliers will hold and maintain the tool until its end of life or an agreed period, whichever comes first.
