How do I begin the process of becoming a Xometry Partner?
The first step is to complete the registration process. This creates your partner account, allows you to upload financial documents (W-9) and industry certifications, and provides the next steps for your specific capabilities.
What documents do I need to have ready for registration?
You will need your company’s legal details, a signed W-9 (for US partners), any ISO or industry-specific certifications (AS9100, ITAR, etc.), and a list of your shop’s machinery and capabilities.
What makes a W-9 "valid" for Xometry?
To avoid delays, ensure your W-9 meets these criteria:
- Legal Name: Must match the name on your SS4 form.
- Company Name: Unless you have a registered DBA, this line should be blank.
- Tax Classification: Check the box associated with your IRS registration.
Tax ID: Use an EIN for companies/sole proprietors. Only use an SSN if you are registered as an individual.
Partner OnboardingI heard there were "Vetting" and "Onboarding" calls. Do I need to schedule those?
No. As of April 15, 2026, Xometry has moved to a faster, self-service onboarding flow:
- The Vetting Call has been replaced by the Quality Intake Form within the registration process.
- The Onboarding Call has been replaced by a guided, click-through tutorial that starts automatically when you first log into Workcenter.
What is the Quality Intake Form?
This is a series of questions regarding your shop’s quality management system (QMS) and processes. It helps Xometry understand what quality controls you have in place and determines whether a test part is required to further verify your operations quality.
*Note: If you upload at least one valid QMS certification (e.g., ISO 9001) during the registration "Business Details" step, the Quality Intake Form will be skipped automatically.
What is the "EZ Pass" for test parts?
Test parts are not required for Partners with robust, repeatable, and certified quality management systems. You may be granted “EZ Pass” access to Xometry partner network based on your answers to the Quality Intake Form. If you are selected for “EZ Pass,” you may skip the test part requirement entirely, allowing you to access the Job Board immediately. Learn More by visiting the EZ Pass Program Help Article
Test Part Program
Which processes require a test part?
Test parts are typically required for CNC Machining, Sheet Metal, and Sheet Cutting.
- Additive Manufacturing: Usually does not require a test part, provided you have an established QMS, a commercial website, and a non-residential business address.
- Injection Molding, Urethane Casting, or Other Tooling: Requirements vary; generally, you must have an internal QMS or specific certifications (ITAR/JCP) to be eligible.
Why are there dimensions missing on the drawings?
Drawings are not mandatory on Xometry jobs, and we need to be sure you are comfortable pulling nominal dimensions directly from the models provided, and programming to them accordingly. We also want to be transparent about what we will be inspecting -- only the dimensions shown. All features that are not dimensioned should be treated as a .010" profile to the CAD model supplied.
Does Xometry provide a DXF file for the sheet metal flat or cutting test part?
Xometry does not supply a DXF flat pattern for the sheet metal test part because of how variations in machines, best-practices, k-factors on different materials, etc., impact the flat pattern dimensions.
What is Xometry looking for in terms of surface finish, and what is the best way to check the surface finish?
Please note that the Xometry standard surface finish is 125 unless otherwise specified. The test part includes specific callouts requiring a 16 and a 32 finish on two designated faces. These surfaces will be inspected at Xometry and must meet the specified requirements.
Inspection will be performed using a profilometer. If you do not have access to one, a surface roughness comparison chart may be used during production, but the parts must still meet the required finish when measured at Xometry.
How do I fill out the inspection report?
Here is an example of a filled-out inspection report for your reference.

How do I submit my test part?
Once a test part is requested, you will find the instructions in Workcenter. A packing list and shipping label are provided at no cost. You must return:
- The completed test part (marked with your Partner ID)
- The Packing Slip
- Your Inspection Report
- The Traveler
Where can I locate my Partner ID?
You can learn more about where to locate your Partner ID here.
Where is the shipping label?
The shipping label is not provided until the final step of the workflow. You will need to select Shipping Started, then Generate Shipping Label
If you have completed a test part job and still do not have a label,
the most common issue we see is that the browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox,
Edge, etc.) is blocking the pop-up that generates the label
If issues persist, let us know via the “Request Support” function within Workcenter.
I accidentally selected the wrong test part process. How can I remove it?
You won't be able to delete the test part job, but you can click through
the milestones to complete it. This will move it off your current work.
If you prefer to remove it on your home screen, you can click here and select the unwanted process.
How can I add additional test part processes?
You can revisit here and add them
What happens if my test part fails?
We allow two attempts per process.
- First Failure: You will receive an inspection report via email explaining the rejection. We encourage you to review this and try again.
- Second Failure: If you fail a second time, you must wait six months before reapplying for that process.
Warning: A total of two lifetime failures across all attempts will make a partner ineligible for the Xometry Partner Network.
Shop Standards and Scaling
What is “QMS in a Box?”
This is a phased quality manual template to help shops align with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Default Partners: Must implement Level I.
- Premium Partners: Must implement Level II.
- Ultra Premium Partners: Must implement Level III (Full ISO alignment).
Where can I find training for shipping and workmanship?
Your onboarding checklist in Workcenter includes links to Packing & Shipping Training and Workmanship Standards Training. These are required to ensure you meet Xometry’s customer expectations.
