Xometry can interpret a variety of 3D CAD file types for instant online quoting. If you are uploading your file and having trouble, please consult the troubleshooting instructions below:
- Nothing is happening when I try to upload the file.
Please check if you are trying to upload a file from an unextracted ZIP folder--unextracted files will not load and require extraction before uploading.
Make sure you are using one of our supported file types here. PDF, AI, assembly natives (e.g., SLDASM), and drawing references (e.g., SLDDRW) will not load on Xometry's site.
- I get an "Error Saving Quote" with an unsupported file type statement.
An unsupported file in one that is currently not accepted by Xometry's online 3D CAD evaluation software. You can review supported file types here.
- I see a red bar with an error.
A red bar indicated that the part uploading failed to process. Most often this is due to it being an assembly file without part information (e.g. IAM, SLDASM), a time out during geometry computation, or the file exceeding the 100MB limit. Please contact your sales lead or Xometry Support for troubleshooting.
The file may have special characters such as periods, parenthesis, commas, asterisks, etc. which affect how the file is interpreted. Removing those characters may allow the file to load successfully.
Other tips: All assemblies should have the files individually uploaded. Sheet metal components that require inserts do not need the inserts modeled, they can be specified under the modify part section once the part file is uploaded. Contact us or your sales representative if you require an assembly as a deliverable.
If you cannot reduce your file size (e.g., reducing the resolution on an STL export), contact us or your sales representative and they will assist you. Xometry's online upload caps at 100MB per file. If you have a file that is larger, please contact support for assistance.
