Material Traceability
can be selected under Certificates and Supplier Qualifications when configuring your quote. This complements requests for Material Certification and consists of Material Certs/Test Reports from the manufacturer of the raw material and records showing each transfer of ownership/sale from the mill that produced the material until the material has reached Xometry. This option must be identified during quoting as it must be requested with the raw material delivery and cannot typically be retrieved after the fact.
Material Traceability for Metals
Material traceability for metals includes these documents:
- QC signature from the original mill’s representative.
- Packing slips from mill supplier to (supplier to, etc.) manufacturer of the parts with identical heat lot from MTR recorded on each successive packing slip, with the address chain unbreaking.
- If material is sold or transferred within an organization, get a transfer slip with the heat lot.
- Certificate of Conformance (CofC) confirming the manufactured part identity and featuring the identical heat lot from the MTR on the stock material.
- CofC on Xometry template confirming the manufactured part identity and featuring the identical heat lot from the MTR on the stock material.
Material Traceability for Plastics and Composites
Material traceability for plastics or composites include these documents:
- Manufacturer-provided Certificate of Conformance (CofC) with plastic name, type, and class if applicable, any applicable AMS/ASTM specifications, and lot number. Note: MTRs are generally not available for plastics and are not required unless specifically noted.
- QC Signature from manufacturer.
- Packing slips from manufacturer to supplier (to supplier, etc.) with identical lot number recorded on each successive packing slip, with the address chain unbreaking.
- CofC confirming the manufactured part identity and featuring the identical lot from the Manufacturer’s CofC on the stock material.
- CofC from Xometry confirming the manufactured part identity and featuring the identical lot from the original CofC on the stock material.
