We do our best to work with our customer's requirements. That said, sometimes, the limitations of a manufacturing process prevent us from meeting very tight tolerances and dimensions called out on drawings. Process limits are especially apparent when engineers are rapid prototyping in a process such as 3D printing; however, they dimensioned features for another manufacturing process with greater precision, such as CNC machining.
Our DFM (design for manufacturability) engineers closely review incoming orders and any associated drawings to make sure we can meet your requirements. Our engineers will reach out in instances where the dimensions or tolerances are tighter than the chosen process can reliably achieve. They will work with you to come to an agreed deviation, such as relaxed tolerances or some other solution that works best for you. Our team will update notes to reflect any discussed variations for manufacturing and inspection purposes.
Please refer to our Manufacturing Standards page for information on the standards and limits of the processes we offer.
