We offer three different inspection options for our 3D printing processes. The inspection options are described in more detail below. Please note that at this time we do not offer Formal Inspection with Dimensional Report options for the PolyJet or Metal Binder Jetting processes.
Inspection Options
Standard Inspection: QC will visually inspect for missing features, warping, and verify that the part material and finish are in accordance with the requirements specified in the quote. Any dimensional inspections performed will be at the discretion of Xometry. The supplied CAD file will be the primary reference. Customer supplied drawings/prints will be considered for feature reference only (eg. tapped holes, insert information). Documentation will not be shipped with your parts.
Formal Inspection with Dimensional Report: QC will perform an inspection using calibrated tools on up to 5 critical dimensions. The specified critical dimensions must be accessible with calipers or pin gages. Otherwise, a Custom Inspection is required. Measurement will occur before additional finishes are applied unless otherwise noted. A dimensional inspection report with a correlated ballooned print will be shipped with your part(s). A customer-supplied dimensional print is required for this inspection. The drawing tolerances cannot exceed the standard process tolerances defined by Xometry's Manufacturing Standards, without engineering approval.
For an example of a Xometry dimensional inspection report with a correlated ballooned print, please refer to our Sample Inspection Documents page.
Custom Inspection: Choose this option if your part requires custom inspection requirements such as, but not limited to, the following: Custom Sampling Plans, AS9102D inspections, GD&T or if you would like to provide your own inspection datasheet. A customer-supplied dimensional print is required for this inspection.
Sampling Plan
Our Statistical Sampling Plan is based on ASQC Z1.4 2008 Level II with Zero rejects. Please refer to Table 2 below.
