Test Part Guidelines and Instructions - Xometry's Manufacturing Community
<main> <article class="userContent"> <p>To join the partner network you'll need to complete and pass a test part. The test part is your opportunity to wow us and demonstrates your ability to deliver top-quality work.</p><p>Just as you wouldn’t feel comfortable seeing a doctor that didn’t go to medical school, we want to make sure that our partners are qualified for the job.</p><h2 data-id="request-your-test-material">Request Your Test Material</h2><p>To simplify the test part process, we will provide you with the material you need. To request your material just fill out the form found in your <a href="https://work.xometry.com/register" rel="nofollow noreferrer ugc">Supplier Account</a>.</p><p>Test material will be shipped within <strong>10 business days</strong> via FedEx Ground. Once your material has shipped you will receive an email with the <strong>tracking number</strong> and a downloadable folder with all the <strong>test part files</strong> found in this guide.</p><h2 data-id="whats-in-the-box">Whats in the box?</h2><h4 data-id="your-test-material">Your Test Material</h4><p>You will receive <strong>enough test material for two test parts</strong> at the test part (one for set-up and one for submission). There are no additional surface finishes required.</p><p>We will evaluate the quality of the part based on how you conform to Xometry’s Finishing Standards, as seen in our Partner Guide, and dimensional requirements (±.005”) of both the CAD model and bubble drawing. For any tolerance discrepancies, please revert to the CAD model.</p><h2 data-id="returning-your-test-part">Returning Your Test Part</h2><p>Xometry has covered the shipping costs and provided a <strong>return</strong> <strong>shipping label</strong> for you in the box we sent the test material. If your return label was damaged or lost please request a new one <a href="https://pages.xometry.com/test-part-questions" rel="nofollow noreferrer ugc">here</a>.</p><p>Parts should be packaged according to the Packing Instructions and Guidelines as outlined in the Partner Guide with the provided <strong>packing slip</strong>, and the i<strong>nspection report</strong> included in the box.</p><h2 data-id="your-test-part-status">Your Test Part Status</h2><p>Once your test part has been delivered back to Xometry it will under go an inspection from our Quality Team where it will be given a Pass/Fail status. You will be notified via email about the status of your test part within <strong>1 week</strong> of your parts arrival.</p><h4 data-id="if-you-passed">If You Passed</h4><p>Congrats! Give it another try! Your email should have your inspection report attached. This includes general inquiries, quality support, and technical support questions.</p><h2 data-id="faqs"><strong>FAQs</strong></h2><h3 data-id="i-have-multiple-manufacturing-processes-in-my-shop.-do-i-have-to-complete-multiple-test-parts"><strong>I have multiple manufacturing processes in my shop. Do I have to complete multiple test parts?</strong> </h3><p>If you're required to complete a CNC or Sheet metal test part during your application process, you will only need to complete <strong>one process type</strong> (either CNC or Sheet Metal material). Once you become an approved partner, you will automatically be approved to view both CNC and Sheet job offers.</p><h3 data-id="how-long-will-it-take-for-my-test-part-to-be-inspected"><strong>How long will it take for my test part to be inspected?</strong></h3><p>Please allow up to 1 week from delivery for your test part to be inspected. Once we receive your part, our inspection team will use a CMM to check all dimensions. Upon inspection, you will receive an email with your test part results and the next steps.</p><h3 data-id="if-i-fail-my-test-part-can-i-request-another-one"><strong>If I fail my test part, can I request another one?</strong></h3><p>We allow partners a second attempt and encourage you to attend Quality Support Hour - M-F from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Our Quality Team facilitates the call, and they will be able to go over your test part inspection report with you, answer any questions you have, and discuss the next steps.
