You have begun the first step in becoming a full Xometry manufacturing partner: the test part! The test part is your opportunity to wow us and demonstrates your ability to deliver top-quality work.
Just as you wouldn’t feel comfortable seeing a doctor that didn’t go to medical school, we want to make sure that our partners are qualified for the job.
To do so, we require you to fabricate a single test part for us to inspect. The details of the test part process are outlined in this guide.
Why Complete A Test Part?
Why am I required to complete a test part?
The completion of a test part is our method of ensuring you have met and exceeded the Xometry quality standard. Like we said above, you wouldn’t feel comfortable seeing a doctor that didn’t go to medical school, we want to make sure that our partners are qualified for the job!
How Many Test Parts Must I Complete?
Do I need to complete a different test part for each process I want to be approved for?
Only the completion of 1 test part is required to be approved for the following work:
- CNC - Mill
- CNC - Lathe
- Sheet Metal - Flat
- Sheet Metal - Bent
If your shop has multiple capabilities from the above list, you will only need to complete one test part of your choosing. You can learn more about each of these test parts in this guide. When you’re ready, request your test part material.
The following capabilities have unique requirements that are necessary to be approved for these processes. We’ll cover these more in the specific test part guides for each.
- Injection Molding
- Urethane Casting
Are There Exemptions From the Test Part?
